Library-history

The TSC Library was founded in 1917. Library is rich with the funds of European, Russian and Soviet music publications and copies. Special place in this selection is dedicated to the rarity literature dating back to the 15-18 centuries. An important component of the Library fund is Georgian folk and professional music compositions by Georgian composers.

Nowadays the library contains
■ Over 54.000 books and 100,000 music scores, 1500 CD/DVD
■ Provides services to music-study organizations (musical schools, institutions) as well as basic music institutions (opera theatres, symphonic and chamber orchestras and etc)
■ Serves around 5000 – 8000 visitors per year

During 2004-2005 and 2016-2017 Library has successfully renewed its infrastructure. In 2004-2005, “Cartu Group” financially supported the reconstruction of the Conservatoire and within that process the library was renovated.
In 2016-2017 invaluable support and contribution was done by the Norwegian Music Academy (Oslo) when the library was rebuilt and new library system has been implement- ed at TSC under the framework of the Oslo music academy and TSC joint international project “Bridging the Gap – Qualifying music students for a changing Music Profession” CPEA-2015 (2016-2019) financed by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU).
