Within the framework of the project, a bilingual (Georgian-English) collection of articles – “Women’s Role in UNESCO Recognized European Traditional Singing Practices” will be prepared and published, with an attached audio album.
The publication will be prepared in partnership with leading European research and educational institutions and will include articles on the emancipation-liberalization of women in Georgian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Corsican and Bulgarian traditional singing practices; and the audio album will present the best samples of the women’s repertoire of the participating countries. The project especially important if we consider that the Georgian traditional polyphony, recognized by UNESCO as a monument of intangible cultural heritage, is known in the world, mainly in the form of men’s folklore.
Part of the published collections will be sent to the European partner institutions of the project, and the other part will be distributed to Georgian cultural-educational institutions and organizations working on gender issues.
